Mail BasicsManaging Quotas | Printing | Remote Login InboxThe Inbox is the screen used for sending and receiving e-mail. The large window on the screen shows any messages you have received. If the message is unread, then the first few lines of the message will appear under the message's subject. Click on the subject to view the message.
Sending MailTo send a message, click the button in the top left corner marked "Send". This will open the New Message window. From here, you can utilize several functions similar to Microsoft Word in order to create your message.
In the text area next to the button marked "To", enter the e-mail address of the recipient of the message. In the text area next to the button marked "CC", enter the e-mail address of a person to whom you want to send a copy of the message(or leave it blank). In the Subject area, type the subject, and type the message in the large text area at the bottom. When you are finished, click "Send" to send the message. Receiving MailTo receive messages, assuming you are connected to a mail server properly, click on Tools, then Check for New Mail. You may alternatively simply press F5.
Attaching FilesTo attach files to a message, click on the "Send" button, then click on the picture of the paper clip on the toolbar. From there, locate the directory of the file you wish to send, then click "OK". Continue creating the message as usual, then click "Send".
Creating SubfoldersTo create a new subfolder, click on File, then move down to Folder. Move over to the option marked "Create New Subfolder". You can alternatively press Ctrl-Shift-E. Write the name of the folder in the text area labeled "Name", and click "OK".
Managing QuotasSpace is limited. After your mailbox reaches 5MB, a warning message is sent every night. After your mailbox reaches 10MB, you will be unable to send mail. After your mailbox reaches 20MB, you will be unable to send or receive mail.PrintingTo print a message, click on File, then click on Print. You should have all the printer options set up correctly, so click "OK" to print.
Remote LoginIn order to login remotely using Outlook, you must have your mail server set up to receive e-mail. Click on Tools, then click on Services.
If "Internet E-Mail" is not selected as a service, click "Add", then select "Internet E-Mail" and "OK" to add it to the list of services. Select "Internet E-Mail", and click on Properties.
Name the mail account "Millsaps", and enter your name under "Name", and your e-mail address for both "E-Mail Address" and "Reply Address". Click on the tab at the top marked "Servers".
For outgoing and incoming mail, enter mail.millsaps.edu For the login information, enter your user name and VAX password. Click "OK" to exit, and you will have to restart Outlook before you can receive mail.
